CourtAvenue is looking for a Human Resources Director (HR) to manage HR and recruiting, develop people strategies and provide HR expertise across a distributed team. This person would ideally have experience working in a start-up environment, preferably within an advertising or marketing agency, and has built a people strategy from the ground up. The HR Director is highly intuitive and proactive, people-centric, has innovative ideas, and acts as a strategic partner to executive leadership.
The HR Director will partner closely with the CEO, CFO, and agency leadership in growing a dynamic culture, and will act as an employee and agency champion and change agent. You will develop organizational strategies by establishing human resources objectives that match organizational objectives.
We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in human resources management and thrives in high-growth environments. This role is dynamic and evolving, therefore, we need someone who is comfortable in a fast paced, start-up environment, who can adapt and apply the skills necessary to complete the duties and responsibilities assigned.
Build and lead newly formed HR department and act as a strategic advisor to the leadership team
Serve as the main point of contact for all employees, responding to all inquiries from staff regarding company policies and programs, benefits information, performance management, and any other needs
Own employee engagement and retention strategies, seek feedback, create engagement surveys, and use data to drive action plans
Handle confidential documents and information
Create and manage employee onboarding and off boarding process, ensuring employees receive clear and consistent communication throughout their time with the organization
Manage relationships with outside contractors, vendors, and agencies, ensuring teams have the resources needed to staff projects and complete work on time
Lead Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and work with colleges and universities to find future CourtAvenue team members
Develop network-level training materials and programs, ensuring all employees have access to inclusive policies, procedures, and resources
Oversee all culture initiatives, implementing programs and strategies that align with the company's vision and values
Build learning & development plans for employees, working closely with the department heads on identifying needs, development, and execution of training
Develop and oversee a formal employee performance evaluation process, ensuring the team is getting the career progression they desire, while also ensuring the progression is in sync with the company vision, values, and objectives
Develop company policies and programs, handbooks, manage employee files and any other required documentation
Adhere to all required federal and state employment laws and compliance with all governmental and labor legal requirements across multiple locations
10 years of HR experience, with at least three years in a leadership role, preferably in a high growth organization
Start-up experience, preferably in a digital or advertising agency, is strongly preferred
HR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other HR Certifications preferred
Ability to maintain confidential information and exercise discretion
Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Have a get things done, people-centric demeanor, with an ability to solve problems, develop solutions, and quickly put solutions into action
Ability to manage performance and compensation review process
High EI, with strong consulting, conflict management and coaching skills
Strategic and tactical skills, developing programs and policies that will make a positive impact across the organization
Experience in managing and working with remote, diverse, and international teams
Demonstrated ability in taking initiative and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
Deep expertise in various state and federal employment laws, experience managing company compliance with relevant local employment law and creating and delivering best practices
