Compiles and maintains confidential, accurate, and complete employee medical and department records. Assess and gives advice to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolving employee benefit problems. Performs administrative work involved in the benefit functions and maintains related records. Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to comprehend regulatory notices and changes to statutes related to labor law.

  • Ability to comprehend contractual agreements related to medical, dental, life, and other company offered benefits.

  • Ability to implement, organize, and maintain a user-friendly record-keeping/tracking process.

  • Ability to clearly communicate through written, oral, and technical tools policy and/or regulatory amendments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:

  • Advises employees regarding eligibility and coverage for such programs as health, dental, group life, long and short-term disability, retirement, income continuation and other such policies.

  • Ensures compliance with COBRA and HIPAA and files required by State and Federal reports.

  • Communicates provisions of benefits packages to new employees and during open enrollment time periods and/or life changing employee events.

  • May oversee preparation of annual employee census for basis of quotes from insures and providers of benefits.

  • Coordinates and monitors Family Medical Leave Act benefits for qualified employees. Ensures all employees are notified of their FMLA entitlement.

  • Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to complete employment verifications and respond to unemployment documents. Completes forms and/or verifies information requested by employees.

  • Compiles and maintains complete and accurate records for use in employee benefits administration and administers Union Telephone's benefit programs while maintaining productive relationships with provider representatives and brokers.

  • Compiles data from personnel records and prepares reports.

  • Explains more complex aspects of policy guidelines and assists others to clarify the application and use of company medical, dental, life, and disability benefits. Is able to handle nonstandard events and initiates necessary activity to resolve, including FMLA and ADA.
