JOB SUMMARY



Directs financial activities of the organization. Establishes, or recommends to Senior management, major economic objectives and policies for the hospital. Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations. Directs preparation of budgets. Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets. Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions and regulatory requirements and mandates. Arranges for audits of company’s accounts. Oversees all general accounting functions. Prepares various tax reports and assists with the annual preparation of the facility cost report. Oversees Supply Chain Management for the organization and works directly with the Materials Manager to maximize organization buying power and supply chain efficiency across the organization. Will work directly with all areas of the organization to ascertain potential improvements in supply process, purchasing changes, and supply contract management. Works directly with the CFO on strategic initiatives. Maintaining a five year outlook for the organization and assisting with presentation to the Board. The five year outlook will incorporate the strategic initiatives from Senior Leadership. Will be required to present to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors as needed. Will partner with CFO to implement data management strategies that will drive the organizational decision process.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Understands how to identify underlying problems that impact to the Financial Health of the organization and can work with management across departments to develop and implement solutions. This may include but not limited to educational sessions, work flow evaluation, policy and process development for various departments.
  • Develop the department’s operational plan and direct/support staff in execution of departmental goals.
  • Initiates policy and procedure changes for all areas supervised.
  • Directs and supervises in the development of accounting and internal control policies and systems.
  • Provides advice and assistance to department heads and managers in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting that information for their departments.
  • Defines and communicates new/revised position responsibilities and/or reporting relationships and determines necessary staffing changes.
  • Facilitates the efficient conduct of external audits, examinations and related financial projects.
  • Ensures preparation of monthly financial statements and accuracy of these statements.
  • Regularly examines alternative methods of providing required accounting services in order to reduce departmental and Hospital operating costs.
  • Promotes good staffing practices by maximizing the utilization of human resources; forecasts and anticipates the personnel needs of the department with regard to fluctuations in the projected workload; holds staffing at a functional minimum.
  • Directs end participates in the installation and maintenance of all computer software, which impacts the department. Acts as a resource person for each of those software applications. Stays current on any software/hardware issues that might impact the department.
  • Participates in the Finance Committee and other committees and task forces as assigned by CFO.
  • Insures that employee payroll functions are completed and insures that all required Federal regulatory as well as employee specific requirements are met, i.e. deductions, etc. and oversee the Payroll Accountant.
  • Responsible to work with the Finance/Accounting team to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place though-out the organization.
  • Direct the functions of the Financial Analyst.
  • Oversees supply chain functions for the organization.
  • Works directly with the Materials Management Manager and ensures all compliance processes, procedures are in place and followed.
  • In partnership with the CFO directs and oversees the budget process for the organization in a manner consistent with the organization’s vision and mission.
  • Implements goals and directives as set by the CFO to improve operational efficiencies as it relates to supply chain.
  • In partnership with the CFO will develop and implement various forecasting models and maintain them on a routine basis as set by the CFO.
  • Consistently completes all assignments in a timely manner, thorough and appropriately detailed.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in pulling together all the necessary information needed to compare revenue and expenses and determine the facility’s actual financial position.
  • Effectively maintains all required records for the department; demonstrates good organizational skills.
  • Monitors the implementation of checks and balances, which continually evaluate accounting practices, reporting procedures and record keeping.
  • Participate and work on all other projects as assigned by CFO.
  • In partnership with the CFO can review local and macro market conditions and develop strategies that will progress the organization.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS



Education / Experience / License and Certifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Recent experience in the hospital field preferred.
