DESCRIPTION


The General Account II is responsible for the assisting the Controller with assigned duties which will cross the entire Accounting department and operations of the company, and will include data entry and GL Postings for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory & Production management, along with the generation of analytically supported budgets, reports, and submissions to legal entities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand accounting and workflows within ERP System, impact to the General Ledger for each transaction type
  • Analyze transactions and prepare reports and GL entries
  • Calculate Sales & Excise taxes due and submit to State & Federal entities on monthly/quarterly basis
  • Prepare Daily Cash and Sales analysis, update reports and reconcile to Bank reports
  • Assist in the preparation of daily/weekly/monthly reports for organization wide distribution
  • Assist with other department roles during absences occur; specifically Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Work with other departments on projects which involve Accounting and/or financial analytical analysis
  • Track Capital Expenditures and tag received assets
  • Assist Controller on Report Generation, Accounting Entries, completion of supporting schedules, and other tasks as assigned.

  • Education/Certification & Experience

    • Associated degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience with 5+ years of progressively responsibility in a major company or division of a large corporation
    • Experience with complex ERP system including entering Journal's and production of Financial Reports
    • Critical thinking coupled with Analytical skills is required
    • Demonstrated work environment which requires attention to Detail
    • Demonstrated work environment requiring the ability to self-manage time while working with multiple projects
    • Ethical Conduct
  • Competency in Communication

    • Excellent English language written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
    • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, auditors and employees
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Competency in Technical & Financial Management

    • Excellent Math and Excel Skills. Proficiency in all other MS Office Products
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Understanding of Algebra and bank account reconciliation.
    • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret graphs
    • Ability to design complex spreadsheets and extract data from business systems
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities


ACCOUNTABILITIES and MEASURES

  • Meet objective goals assigned by the Controller during performance coaching.
  • Generate accurate data, properly make GL Entries
  • Achieve accurate, on time reporting

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position generally operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, this position may be exposed to the manufacturing environment and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in this work environment can be loud.
