POSITION SUMMARY

Painter is responsible for operating and maintaining painting and coating equipment, mixing paint or coating, monitoring paint quality on articles, and documenting process parameters. The Painter will ensure a clean, safe working environment and complete daily and routine maintenance on machines, facilities, and paint booths. The Painter will troubleshoot and problem solve on a daily basis, perform Quality/ Control Stop Checks, and know and understand the policies, procedures, and processes of EMIT.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections
  • Stage and prepare items to coat, paint, or spray, using hands, hoists, forklifts, or overhead cranes
  • Troubleshoot and report part and/or equipment discrepancies to supervisor for review
  • Attach hoses or nozzles to machines, using wrenches and pliers, and make adjustments to obtain the proper dispersion of spray
  • Prepare and apply stencils, computer-generated decals, or other decorative items to finished products
  • Operate spray guns to direct spray onto articles
  • Place painted parts on pallets for shipping
  • Apply finishing materials to small inventory parts and place on racks for storage
  • Perform Q/C Stop Checks
  • Recognize, set-up, maintain and operate painting equipment and power tools including but not limited to, paint guns, razors, grinders, drills, hand tools, and specialized tools
  • Lift/push/pull heavy loads and assist in loading parts in spray booth
  • Operate overhead cranes safely including: safe crane positioning, safe working limits, proper rigging and proper hand signals
  • Ability to follow schedules and instructions from supervisors to complete all production tasks on a daily basis
  • Handle various projects and other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs

JOB SPECIFICATIONS / QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Forklift Certified Preferred

Experience

  • Forklift Operation Experience
  • 1-2 Years Experience with Various Paint Processes

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This position has the following physical requirements:

  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending and twisting of the neck, bending and twisting from the waist, and reaching overhead.

  • Frequent fine manipulation and simple grasping of both right and left hands (e.g. typing, holding telephone receiver, utilizing writing implements and handling materials.)

  • Good hand-eye coordination is required in order to produce safe, quality welds and assembly of control panels and components.
  • Frequent lifting or moving materials weighing up to 100 lbs.

  • Requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and the ability to adjust focus.
