As a Biomed Technician, you will be part of the Technology Management team providing implementation, service, and support for all Banner Health medical equipment.     As a Biomed Technician, you will be responsible for running multiple simultaneous projects involving medical equipment specification gathering, ordering and installation over several sites. You will coordinate with construction teams, architects and vendors to ensure budgets are maintained.

    Job Summary

    This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing biomedical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems under direct supervision. Additional responsibilities may include inventory control.


    Essential Functions

  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and safety inspections and testing on a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic biomedical equipment, instrumentation, devices and systems using specialized test equipment, tools, simulation devices and phantoms.


  • Identifies, diagnoses, and implements minor repairs associated with equipment malfunctions on general low end-risk medical devices and equipment.

  • Assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment.

  • Documents all work performed, maintains parts, supplies, tools, test equipment and technical literature by completing service reports and supplemental productivity documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains an accurate and current parts inventory.


  • Provides customer relations and resolves equipment service problems by ensuring that clinical capability is restored as quickly as possible. Maintains communication with customers regarding the status of equipment repairs.


  • Assists with testing and calibrating equipment in accordance to manufacturers recommendations and/or other established guidelines.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Must possess a strong knowledge of electronics as normally obtained through the completion of an Associates degree in electronics from an accredited college or technical school or equivalent experience.

    Must posses a valid drivers license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.

    Understanding of the repair and maintenance of general low-risk medical equipment technology devices. Knowledge of the application and use of PCs and how it interfaces with medical equipment. Understanding of the technical aspects of electronic equipment, its operation, repair and maintenance.



    Preferred Qualifications

    Two years industry experience.

    Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
