DESCRIPTION
Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
Produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control CNC machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to regulations, safety procedures, and equipment by completing PM requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs.
Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Install repaired parts into equipment, or install new equipment. And Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
Measure performance consistent with the departments KPI's; Sales, Quality, Delivery, Cost.
Perform at a high level without sacrificing quality to support all corresponding Value Streams.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education & Experience
2-5 + years of machining experience, or Machining certification from an accredited trade school. High school diploma, GED or minimum 6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
Competencies
Excellent English language written and oral communication skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and barcode labels.
Technical Capacity
Must have experience with tolerances +/- .001
Must be familiar with Okuma, Fanuc, G-codes, M-codes, lathes and mills.
Must be able to understand and properly use inserts, fixtures and tooling.
Problem Solving/Analysis
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, this position operates in a manufacturing environment and will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in this work environment can be loud. Surrounding the environment is moving equipment, saws, cranes and other equipment that if not used with care can prove to be dangerous.
