    Duties

    Summary

    This is a permanent, career-seasonal position. Career-seasonal positions are guaranteed to work at least 6 months but not more than 50 weeks per year and include all the benefits of permanent employment. The nonpay/nonduty time for this position is expected to be December 6 - 19, 2020, but can vary due to project requirements or weather conditions.


    Responsibilities

    • Repair or replace plumbing fixtures in public buildings, offices, shops and treatment plants. Make plumbing repairs in the water distribution systems and the wastewater collection systems. Install electric and gas water heaters. Activate and deactivate distribution systems, collections systems, treatment plants, lift stations, trailer courts, campgrounds, office buildings, employee housing and visitor centers.


    • Install gas and oil-fired heating units. Troubleshoot and make repairs to heating systems and boilers. Use computer programs to set control points for boilers, heating systems and air handling units. Use dial up modems and internet connections to remotely adjust heating systems set points.


    • Troubleshoots and perform repairs to 110/220-volt systems. Maintenance and repair of electronic controls for boilers and heating systems Troubleshoot and make repairs to pumps, motors and controllers at treatment plants. Maintenance and repair of lift stations and collection systems.


    • Perform rough carpentry work. Construction, remodel, and alteration of wood, metal and block structures. Install and repair trim, doors, windows, screens, shudders and locksets. Maintains and repairs picnic tables, benches, boardwalks, fences and railing. Fabricate and repair of wood and metal signs.


    • Prepare surfaces for painting or staining by cleaning, filling smoothing and sanding. Mixes and matches colors. Paint interior and exterior wood and metal surfaces. Apply Paint with brush, roller, and spray gun.

    Physical Demands: Required to lift and carry objects that weigh over 100 pounds, walk long distances, sit and stand for long periods, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, work in confined spaces, climb ladders and to work on scaffolding and roofs. Required to perform strenuous and repetitive tasks like pushing and pulling in elevations from 5000' to 10,000'. Required to sit when operating machinery for extended periods of time. Operates vehicles and equipment on steep, winding slippery, narrow, confined roads and public areas, in heavy traffic area, and in pedestrian areas. Required to be physically fit to ride a snowmobile for 4 months of the year.

    Working Conditions: Required to work indoors and outdoors, in heat and cold with temperature extremes fromĀ·
    • 40 to +90 degrees F. Required to work and operate machinery and equipment in extreme weather conditions that include sun, rain, snow, ice, fog, strong winds, etc. Exposed to hazards from noise, chemicals, machinery, equipment, wild animals, etc. Subject to slips, falls, bruises, cuts, insect bites, and traffic hazards. Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment including dust mask, respirator, safety goggles, hard hat, gloves, hearing protection and fall protection equipment.


    Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
