Position: Network Administrator
Duration: 12 months
Location: Montgomery AL (on site work and will travel in Alabama in a state-owned vehicle)
Monitors, troubleshoots and maintains network (LAN, WAN and wireless) switches and routers, and utilizes remote, cloud-based monitoring tools.
The duties of this position may include such tasks as installing new workstations, cameras, access points, and troubleshooting networked peripherals. Selects, develops, integrates and implements network management applications. Researches, evaluates and recommends software and hardware products. Provides new hardware and software specifications to management based on application needs and anticipated growth. Works closely with cybersecurity team to integrate networks, endpoints, and SEIM. Great opportunity and fun work environment. Candidate will be having an opportunity to travel to Wildlife, State Lands, State Parks, and Marine Resources office locations; based out of Montgomery, AL office. Working with multiple levels of equipment, finding innovative solutions. Candidate will be housed at State Parks or hotel if overnight travel is required (per diem provided).
Intermediate professional level role.
Works on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity.
Provides daily operations support, maintenance and administration for network and security systems.
Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader.
May coach more junior technical staff.
Candidate will be required to operate a State-owned vehicle
VLANs, IPsec VPN, QoS, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VoIP, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Windows administration, Microsoft SharePoint, Office365
Typically has 3 to 5 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in network operations, support, maintenance and administration.
Cloud based network management (Cisco Meraki), security cameras, VOIP.
Some technical service/help desk experience and cybersecurity knowledge/experience is a plus
Bachelor's Degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field. Or equivalent work experience may be substituted.
Industry standard certifications are strongly preferred. (Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, ISC2)
