This is a permanent full-time Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative position in Nome.

FULL TIME POSITION $4352.00 Monthly

TSR is recruiting for a full-time Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Administering road examinations for the non-commercial and commercial license classes.

Conducting vehicle inspections.

Working at the customer service counter processing transactions, computing and collecting fees, balancing money collected with computer record of transactions.

Performing accounting duties by reconciling daily batch work with monies collected, prepare the daily credit card settlement reports, preparing and recording the daily bank deposits.

Providing service to customers in obtaining a driving permit, driver license, state ID card, motor vehicle title and/or registration, and any of the specialized permits.

Effectively communicating and interacting with a diverse population interpreting and applying statutes, regulations, policies and procedures in person, over the phone, and in writing.

Entering and retrieving information from an electronic database, quickly and accurately.

Research information, analyze documentation, review, and explain findings.

Comply with and promote the office policies and procedures in a fair and equitable manner.

Being conscientious of the cost of supplies and equipment and see that they are used in a cost-effective manner.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with difficult customers in a professional manner.

Capable and willing to switch job assignments throughout the work shift as necessary without advance notice and work compensated overtime to adjust to the work volume.

Cash handling experience.

Data entry skills.

SPECIAL NOTICE

The applicant will undergo fingerprinting and pass a criminal background check.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of employment experience performing advanced clerical duties that included significant contact with the public to provide information and assistance concerning the services offered; explaining regulations and varying procedures for different situations; maintaining computerized records; and some purchasing, accounting, or cash handling tasks.

OR

Six months of experience licensing, titling, and registering motor vehicles, maintaining driver records, collecting motor vehicle registration taxes, and processing license actions required by traffic laws, financial responsibility and mandatory insurance laws, and judicial suspensions or revocations. This experience is met by service as a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative I with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Six months of employment experience as a driving instructor teaching the safe operation of motor vehicles, which included riding with trainees during practice in common traffic situations.

Substitution:

Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience. (Three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month.)

Special Note:

A background check of criminal justice information will be conducted upon initial employment.

Possession of a valid Alaska non-commercial driver license is required.

EDUCATION

If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
