Alaska Geographic and its partners run a series of programs that engage young people from all over Alaska. We are looking for people who are passionate about the outdoors and have experience leading backcountry trips, including trail-work, kayaking, and backpacking crews. Our leaders work with young people and adults from a variety of backgrounds and introduce them to the wonders of Alaskas public lands while completing meaningful service projects. 3-4 weeks of work throughout the summer, hiring in a per trip basis.
Kayak Guide and Field Leader - Our Kayak Expeditions take Alaskan high school students and teachers into remote Prince William Sound to learn leadership and wilderness skills and complete work projects. Kayak guiding experience preferred.
Backpacking Field Leader - The Backpacking Expeditions take place in Chugach State Park and involve conservation work projects. As a leader, you are responsible for participant safety and the daily logistics of the program.
Youth Trail-work Expedition Leader - Our trail crews camp in remote areas and complete trail work and conservation projects in National Forest and Parks. As a leader, you are responsible for participant safety and the daily logistics of the project.
