Schedule: At least two days a week; what works for you? A willingness to be available for occasional weekend walks would be a plus. Individual walks (or sometimes play-at-home visits) are 30-60 minutes long between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

Requirements: The willingness to learn and follow specific directions • A reliable car • A year-long commitment at minimum • A fabulous attitude when dealing with variables between households • A love of dogs • Experience walking reactive & big dogs & the physical capability to manage them • Availability during the aforementioned days & time frames • No criminal history • Resourceful & reliable • Comfortable walking & driving in inclement weather • Smartphone & app proficient • Stellar communication skills • You rarely if ever call out sick!!

Pay schedule:

$19 for 60 minutes

$14 for 45 minutes

$10 for 30 minutes

You are not paid for driving time or mileage but are encouraged to track mileage and vehicle expenses for tax purposes (I can show you how), along with any clothing or other work-related expenses (food doesn’t count). Efficiency is key and to that end your clients will be scheduled as closely as possible together in regards to location as well as time so the bulk of your time is spent walking, not driving.

Job description for Dog Walkers - what you can expect & what will be expected of you if you are hired:

• After being hired you & I will meet existing clients (both owners and dogs). We will go over the specific needs of each household you will be working in and how to work most efficiently (i.e. the routine) with each client. You will be walking one or two dogs at a time. After you are successful with the company, you will be able meet new clients on your own.

• I will be responsible for your daily schedule. Any client requests in terms of schedule will go through myself for approval.

• When it is raining/cold/snowy/windy/icy, etc., dogs still need to go out. The actual outside time can be adjusted as needed due to inclement weather, which we will consider together on a case-by-case basis. If dogs get dirty or snowy or wet on the walk, you are required to clean/dry them off (owners will provide towels upon returning home.

• When you are walking a very friendly dog (and most of them are), remember that some of the dogs you will see are NOT friendly. To ensure the safety of our clients, keep the dog you are walking away from other dogs unless they are already friends. Do not allow children to pet dogs you are walking. Always err on the side of caution. All dogs must always be leashed during their walks.

• Client peace of mind & confidentiality is of the utmost importance. Do not take friends or family with you on the job, nor leave client keys, addresses, names, etc. accessible to anyone but yourself. Do not share client details with anyone.

If you’ve read this far and are still interested and intrigued and would like to be emailed an application, please reply to this post via email and tell me:

1) Why do you think you would be the perfect person for this job?

2) What days & hours you are available?

3) What region of town would be preferred or are you are flexible in regards to location?

4) It won’t make or break whether you get the job, but have you worked in a professional capacity with dogs in the past? If so, where and when? What was your most and least favorite thing about that experience?

If you seem like a viable candidate you will receive a job application via email. If you are still a viable candidate per the application the next step will be a working interview.

Please note applications are required to be submitted via US mail; you will have to print out the application, fill it out and return it via snail mail, not email. I have found this to be the handiest method in terms of finding out who really wants this job.

Applications will be accepted until the right person is found, so if you are viewing this post weeks after it’s been published, please do reach out.

Thank you for your interest!
