Job Summary:
The Food Service Associate position is responsible for ensuring a safe and sound communal environment for Bean’s Cafe’s Temporary Emergency Service Shelter. Essential job duties encompass the Associate’s role as leader, monitor, and supporter. The Monitor maintains loyalty to the organization, its beliefs, values, mission, vision and expectations.
Supports Vision:
The Food Service Associate supports the mission of Bean’s Cafe by helping to ensure a safe environment is maintained so that Bean’s Cafe can better serve the community.
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Providing a calm presence is always alert and observant.
● Receive and distribute meals to clients, and address any issues regarding food services and/or other concerns pertaining to the client’s stay at the shelter
● Hold a basic understanding for every Food Service Associate post within the Shelter.
● Participate in the general daily routine of the Associate, including rotating positions for proper coverage, enforcing policies, and ensuring the safety of clients, staff, and volunteers.
● Alert Management of any client safety or security issues, or any building maintenance issues.
● Assistant in maintaining tracking systems for data reports as required.
● Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and training, if needed.
● Direct and assist in maintaining order with the clients in the Shelter and on Shelter property, including policy enforcement.
● Support in the supervision for keeping the shelter clean and safe.
● Assist with answering the telephones, if needed.
● Assists with and perform shift duties as assigned by Management.
● Support and adhere to Bean’s Cafe policies and procedures.
● May perform other duties and job responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Education and Experience:
● At least 18 years of age.
● Legal right to work in the United States.
● Willingness to disclose criminal background history.
● Ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English.
● Have and/or have access to a dependable vehicle/transportation.
● Prior security/monitor experience or in a similar job position, is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
● Must be able to work in inclement weather.
● Must be able to lift 50 pounds from the ground up, and to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general labor, etc.) or to make general observations of clients, facilities and/or structures.
● Must be able to climb stairs.
● Physically able to stand for at least 8 hours or more.
