Food Truck Cook/Window (Seasonal)
Location: Chitina, AK
Seasonal Position: May 18th-September 7th (16 weeks)
This is a full-time seasonal contract position. Compensation for May 18th-September 7th is DOE ($7200-$11,200) plus tips, room and board included, travel allowance and signing bonus upon contract completion. Couples welcome! Please respond with resume.
Summary:
We are looking to hire a motivated food service worker for our American fare food truck located in the remote village of Chitina, AK. Our business is located on the road system about 2 hours north of Valdez and 5 hours east of Anchorage. We offer housing within walking distance of the food truck. Chitina is a fishing mecca and is slammed with fishermen throughout the Alaskan summer in search of world famous Copper River Salmon as well as tourists visiting Wrangell-St Elias National Park and the famous frontier town of McCarthy. The ideal candidate must be able to present him or herself in a professional manner and maintain a clean appearance at all times. We operate a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu daily.
Primary Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of intermediate food preparation tasks.
Greet customers, take orders and process payments through point of sales system.
Routinely prepares, cooks and processes food for serving.
Monitors food preparation, presentation, and storage.
Assists management with inventory and ordering.
Assists with the unloading, unpacking, and storing of the food supply deliveries.
Perform sanitary cleaning and best storage practices for cooking and eating dishes, utensils, etc.
Maintain accurate paperwork such as timecards, inventory, ordering lists, etc.
Maintain clean hygiene and presentable personal appearance at all times.
Requirements:
Minimum one year of experience in a similar position.
Knowledge of food preparation which would be acquired through the completion of a culinary degree or equivalent certification(s) and/or experience.
Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written, with customers, employees, and management.
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, maintain an attention to detail, while working in a team or group environment.
Proficiency in the use of computerized point of sales systems.
Follow all sanitation guidelines.
Currently hold, or able to obtain prior to employment, a State of Alaska Food Handlers Card.
Position is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 70 pounds.
Minimum age of 18 is required.
Legally able to work in the United States.
Menu:
American fare including speciality hamburgers, sandwiches/wraps, fries, milkshakes, and breakfast burritos. We offer specials such as jambalaya, BBQ and chili, and if you have a creative flare we are open to a “Chef’s Special” menu item with an opportunity to earn a percentage of net revenue of your items sales.
