We are seeking an energetic, dedicated person to fill a Billing and Credentialing Specialist position at the Kidney and Hypertension Clinic of Alaska.The Billing & Credentialing Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities relating to revenue cycle functions and coordinating all aspects of the credentialing and recredentialing process for payers and providers. The primary responsibilities of this position are:Billing, collections, accounts receivables and financial planning for patientsDevelop and implement strategies to bill medical claims, process payments, minimize bad debt, improve cash flow, and manage the overall health of receivablesVerify lab charges are capturedReview and resolve ‘Missing Slips’ Athena bucketReview and submit denials and appeals from payersVerify and resolve patient insurance eligibility issuesSpeak with patients and answer questions relating to their billing or insurance (ex. GAAP)Review chart documentation for correct coding and missed revenue opportunitiesReview patient accounts receivable for large balancesOversee patient account collection processesCommunicate and educate providers and staff regarding coding and documentation guidelinesCredential new providers and re-credential current providers with facilities at which they hold privileges Complete credentialing applications to add providers to payersDemonstrate and promote positive internal and external customer service standards Please note that this is not an all-inclusive list of the responsibilities of the position.Qualifications and Skills Familiarity with Athena billing practices CPB Certification preferredExceptional customer service and critical thinking skills Five years of experience working in a health care environment preferredAbility to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact and diplomacyAbility to defuse tense situations through diplomatic problem-solvingAbility to operate computer and other office equipmentWhat we can offer:Competitive compensation plans.
