POSITION SUMMARY

Masters level Clinician is a mental health practitioner who works with innovative recovery peer-run mental health program. This individual is responsible for all aspects of intakes (including BHAs and other screening tools), is responsible for directing treatment and discharge planning as well as overseeing quality assurance on a variety of levels. Also responsible for various aspects of community networking.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

A. JOB DUTIES

1. Foster and maintain a working relationship with various appropriate local mental health agencies in order to promote our services in the community and to insure continued client referrals to CHOICES.

2. Assist in screening potential new clients for their appropriateness to CHOICES.

3. Obtain necessary ROIs and gather collateral records regarding potential clients’ previous mental health histories.

4. Develop, prepare, implement and complete new clients’ Behavioral Health Assessments and Treatment Plans and other screening tools in a timely manner based on clinical experience and input all appropriate information into AKAIMS in accordance with State of Alaska

5. Attend weekly personal supervision to maintain high work standards.

6. Conduct quality assurance of all aspects of client paperwork (i.e. billing, notes, AKAIMS, client files).

7. Participate in weekly staff meetings with CHOICES staff.

8. Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment.

9. Encourage and counsel clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, helping them to develop insight into themselves or their relationships.

10. Collect information about clients through interviews, observations, or tests.

11. Assess patients for risk of suicide attempts.

12. Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork, including federal- and state-mandated forms, client diagnostic records, and progress notes.

13. Able to bill Medicaid at a 40% for the first 90 days and then between 80% to 100% thereafter for productivity rate for a FT work week.

14. Guide clients in the development of skills or strategies for dealing with their problems.

15. Perform crisis interventions with clients.

16. Performs other related work as assigned.

REQUIRED ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Masters level Clinician

2. Licensed with the State of Alaska, preferred but not required.

NOTE: Required to get licensed within 1 to 1 ½ years.

3. Able to pass an extensive state and federal background check.

4. Have negative TB test results

5. Have valid AK driver’s license with clean driving record for 5 years as well as personal transportation.

6. Willing to work with the SMI, homeless, and substance use population

7. Knowledge of AKAIMS highly preferred but not required

8. Peer oriented a must.

9. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Outlook.

10. Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion and sensitivity to persons with disabilities and other minority populations.

11. Experience with dually diagnosed population preferred.

12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
