About Us:
Dunn Contractors, a leading commercial general contractor, has been serving Anchorage and the surrounding areas since 2003. We specialize in commercial tenant improvements, major structural repairs, carpentry, and general construction.
We currently have several full-time positions open and are seeking skilled, experienced Carpenters and Foremen to join our team immediately. We offer year-round work primarily in Anchorage, with occasional projects in Eagle River and the Valley.
Experienced Carpenter - Pay Range: $30 - $48 (DOE)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Carpentry Tasks: Perform skilled carpentry work, including framing, drywall, door/window installations, and finishing for commercial projects.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret blueprints, plans, and construction documents.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with site supervisors and other trades to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Quality Standards: Maintain high standards of craftsmanship while ensuring that all tasks are completed according to safety standards, with a strong focus on quality control and adherence to building codes.
- Tool Operation: Operate and care for all hand tools, power tools, and equipment associated with carpentry work.
- Site Maintenance: Ensure work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe for yourself and other on-site workers.
- Project Documentation: Maintain accurate time sheets, daily logs, and project records. Upload site photos and document progress regularly using construction software.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of five years in commercial construction, preferably in Anchorage.
- Proven ability to execute a range of carpentry tasks, including both rough and finish work.
Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and blueprints.
- Strong skills in framing, finishing, and general woodworking techniques.
- Familiarity with and ability to safely operate various carpentry tools and machinery.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical capability to handle manual tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working on your feet for extended periods.
Foreman - Pay Range: $40 - $58 (DOE)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Supervise all on-site activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and safety protocols.
- Team Management: Lead and motivate a team of tradespeople and laborers, assign tasks, and monitor work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Coordination with Stakeholders: Serve as the main point of contact for project managers, clients, and subcontractors, addressing any issues or changes in plans.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety standards and practices, conduct regular safety inspections, and address potential hazards.
- Resource Management: Oversee the procurement and allocation of materials, equipment, and labor to optimize project efficiency.
- Quality Control: Inspect and ensure the quality of work, resolving issues proactively and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily progress, incidents, and any adjustments to the project plan. Report regularly to the project management team.
- Software Utilization: Use construction software tools to track job progress, manage resources, and update project data as required.
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve on-site challenges, including unforeseen delays, resource shortages, or technical issues.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role within commercial construction in Anchorage.
- Proven track record of managing and completing projects on schedule and within budget.
- Experience with construction software for digital documentation and project management is essential.
- Strong background in construction, including experience with structural repairs, tenant improvements, and other commercial construction work.
Skills:
- Exceptional ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team, with a focus on productivity and quality.
- In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with teams, clients, and project managers.
- Ability to think critically and resolve on-site issues effectively.
- Strong focus on quality and accuracy, ensuring all work meets company standards.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and keep projects on track.
Schedule:
- 8-hour shifts: Typically 7:00am-3:30pm
- 40 Hours per week
- Monday to Friday
Travel:
- Ability to travel as needed between project sites, various vendors, and other relevant locations. This includes but is not limited to Anchorage, Eagle River, and Wasilla.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Cell phone is required for documentation, communication, and access to maps for traveling.
- 18 years or older.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 lbs.
- Stand/walk for extended periods.
- Lifting, squatting, crawling, and crouching are required.
- Perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Ability to use visual acuity to perform detail-oriented activities.
- Be exposed to various inside and outside working and weather conditions.
- PPE will be provided as needed.
