Seeking a person to work in our store/fuel business/lodge. Expect long hours and a wide variety of tasks. We are located in a small village accessible only by air. Must be willing to work for at least two months at a time between breaks. Following is a list of skills needed and description of a qualified candidate. Must be able to begin work ASAP.
1-Physically fit, able to lift 70 lbs. and do hard manual labor. Prefer non-smoker. Alcohol and drug use won't work in this job.
2-Fast learner, self-motivated, able to work without supervision but also take direction and adapt to changing situations. Good with people. Problem solving skills. Dependable and trustworthy
3-Experience operating a skid steer or other small equipment. Mechanical ability for minor repair and maintenance of small engines.
4-Basic knowledge of preparation of family style meals. Comfortable in the kitchen.
5-Retail experience with customer service, inventory, and stocking of small store.
6-Able to learn to maintain a wood boiler including all aspects of wood processing.
7-Familiarity with computer and use of basic accounting program used daily in the store.
The successful candidate might not have all of these skills but will demonstrate experience with most of them and the ability to learn the others. That person will also be comfortable in a remote setting and working steadily around one small location. The location and setting do not mean things are slow paced here. Ours is a busy local hub with lots of people coming and going and demands on our time all hours of the day. Must have and bring with you work boots, rain gear, warm clothing as well as clothes to clerk and cook in.
