Job Title: Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court Coordinator

Department: Traditional Tribal Court, Justice Division

What We Are Seeking: A self-motivated professional to develop and implement an innovative, traditional, and culturally-centered, Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court (JHWC). The JHWC Coordinator is responsible for creating and coordinating an advisory team, drafting program policy and procedures designed for youth in early contact with the justice system and/or at risk of being arrested for low-level, non-violent violations due to behavioral health and substance misuse issues.

Additional Responsibilities: You will work directly with the Traditional Tribal Court Director to develop and implement case plans that promote sobriety and positive mental health; and reduce the number of youth adjudicated through the general court system, including enhanced diversion activities. A team approach with a variety of Tribal leaders, Elders, traditional healers, culture bearers, professionals and partner resources will be utilized to promote youth healing and restoration into the Tribal community.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

2 to 3 years of experience in youth services, legal systems, social services and/or care coordination is required. We are willing to train CNV Tribal citizens.

A bachelor’s degree in justice, social work, psychology, or a similar field is preferred but may be substituted for 4 additional years of relative experience.

Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills; including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team.

Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet sometimes competing deadlines.

Superb verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and embrace new or updated software.

Certificates and Licenses Required: A valid Alaska Driver’s license is required for this position and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy.

Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check: This position requires you to complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.

AN/AI Preference: As allowed in P.L. 93-638, preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian peoples.
