The Anchorage Skate Club is looking for motivated, enthusiastic skating instructors for our outdoor ice skating and sport programs beginning in late November and continuing to early March. The ideal instructor candidate will excel at working with young people in a challenging outdoor environment. Instructors need to have reasonable basic ice skating skills, good instructional skills, and an ability to communicate with children. A coaching OR skating instructional certification, such as USA Hockey, USS, USFSA, PSA, ISI, PSIA, etc. would be an asset for candidates, but not essential. First aid certification is strongly recommended. Instructors should have their own transportation, and be able to function effectively and cooperatively in an outdoor winter teaching environment. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check prior to employment. Position entails 2+ hours, 1-4 days/week at various times(usually mid to late afternoons) and locations, and some lifting and walking on icy and slippery surfaces.
