Position: IT Business Analyst IV

Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Description:

This position is part of the Alaska Data Analytics team and has a critical role in delivering the annual program of data analytics projects for the business unit. A key focus of this position will be to interview business customers, understand business processes, and translate business needs into technical requirements. This role is responsible for ensuring solutions are delivered that meet the needs of stakeholders and add value in terms of decreased costs, increased production, and improved efficiency. The selected candidate will need to be independent and able to communicate and champion solutions with a broad range of stakeholders. A high level of organization and the ability to work independently will be required as the role involves work on several projects at a time, ranging from small, simple requests to large, complex projects.

Projects are focused around enabling Alaskas data analytics strategy, and typically fall into 2 categories:

1) Integrating data from various sources into the Alaska Data Warehouse

2) Developing analytics using Spotfire, Python, R and other technologies.

This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska and reports to the Supervisor of Advanced Analytics.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess strengths in the following areas:

Analytical skills: process mapping, complex problem solving, and ability to develop requirements

Technical skills: knowledge of data modeling & data integration (ETL) concepts, experience with querying

databases (SQL, Oracle, and Teradata), experience with data analytics concepts (i.e. machine learning) and

technologies (Spotfire, Python, etc.)

Industry skills: experience with engineering, geoscience, or related discipline.

Personal skills: highly organized, ability to manage competing priorities, and strong communication skills

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related Information Technology field preferred, but not

required.

Must pass pre-employment drug test.

Must pass pre-employment background check.

Employment:

Full time, 40 hours / week. 9/80 schedule possible.

Terms:

12 month contract, with possibility of further extensions going forward.

Compensation:

Hourly rate of $85 to $115/hr depending on qualifications (approximately $170,000 to $230,000 per year). No benefits included “ must purchase your own health insurance, retirement plan, etc.
