Job Title: Federal Construction Estimator- Intern

Location: Anchorage, AK (onsite)

Department: Business Development

Reports to: Lead Estimator

Pay: $30/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Federal Construction Estimator Intern to join our team! This internship offers a hands-on experience in helping to prepare bids/estimates for federal construction projects. You will gain exposure to various aspects of vertical construction, project planning, take-offs, pricing with potential subcontractors, blue print interpretation, safety, compliance, and budgeting. Key Responsibilities

Assist in the planning and preparation construction bids for federal construction projects.

Support Lead Estimator in day-to-day tasks, including locating potential subcontractors, and working with them to obtain pricing.

Conduct research on regulations, materials, and best practices in federal construction.

Help prepare project documentation, including RFIs (Requests for Information) and submittals.

Attend project meetings and assist with maintaining communication between stakeholders.

Qualifications

Degree or currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field required. (Junior or Senior standing HIGHLY desirable).

Strong interest in federal construction and government contracting, and passion for learning more about the field.

Basic knowledge of construction practices, safety standards, and project management principles.

Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, initiative, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).

Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple tasks.

Ability to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, concentrate, and/or stand for long periods of time and use computer.

Must be able to work out of our Anchorage, AK office.

Hours are flexible. The length of the assignment is at least 3-6 months, and has potential to become a F/T Regular position.
