Looking to fill full-time head mechanic position at an established excavation company in Anchorage, Alaska. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Skilled position that performs scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance and necessary repairs to light trucks, large trucks and heavy equipment. Troubleshoot and repair company equipment and fleet vehicles. Work includes, but is not limited to, independent diagnosis and repair of electrical systems, hydraulic systems, brake repair and replacement. Diagnose issues with transmissions, clutches, rear ends, electrical systems and all other assemblies. Complete daily maintenance and repair logs. Clean and maintain work area. Work with a high degree of independence. This position requires that you maintain and secure your own tools. Position also requires a number of physical movements, including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing and manipulating and handling objects.
PRIMARY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Diagnose failures of equipment and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary
Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Perform on-site maintenance and repairs
Maintain vehicle and fleet equipment records/logs as required
Maintain and repair fleet vehicles and equipment
Fill out all necessary documents
Maintain records - daily check list (pre-trip inspection)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Hitachi, Volvo and CAT equipment
Minimum of five (5) years experience performing general mechanical repairs; five (5) years heavy truck/equipment and brake repair experience
High School Diploma or GED
Ability work in inclement weather conditions
Mechanical knowledge of gas and diesel repair as well as small engines
Experience with hydraulic and air brake systems and electrical systems
Knowledge of internal combustible engines
HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:
Class A CDL
Working with computer instrumentation (for example, using desktop computers, hand-held computers, laptop computers, performing diagnostics with computers, or conducting preventative maintenance and executing work orders).
Working with manufacturing standards (for example, knowing current standards, staying up-to-date with the latest technology, or having experience working with electronics, etc.)
Must work well with others in a team environment
Must be able to quickly understand and adhere to safety requirements of this position
