Semi Truck Trailer Mechanic

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Semi Truck Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining semi truck trailers to ensure they are in optimal working condition. This includes performing routine inspections, fixing mechanical issues, and addressing safety concerns to ensure the trailers meet industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform diagnostic assessments on semi truck trailers to identify mechanical issues and malfunctions.

Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on trailers, including inspecting brakes, suspension, tires, lighting, and other key components.

Repair or replace defective parts such as brake systems, axles, wheels, air systems, and electrical components.

Work on trailer frames, including welding and structural repairs.

Troubleshoot and repair electrical and pneumatic systems.

Test repaired systems and parts to ensure functionality and safety.

Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.

Ensure all work complies with federal, state, and company safety standards and regulations.

Perform routine inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Order parts and materials as needed, keeping an inventory of necessary supplies.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to workplace safety guidelines.

Work closely with team members to provide support and ensure work is completed efficiently and on time.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; formal mechanic training preferred.

Proven experience as a trailer mechanic or in a related field.

Strong knowledge of semi truck trailer components, systems, and repair techniques.

Ability to use diagnostic tools and mechanical equipment effectively.

Proficient in welding and fabricating.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.

Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.

Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:

Full-time position, with occasional overtime required.

Exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels in a shop environment.

Must be able to work standing, bending, or crouching for extended periods.
