AMES 1, LLC seeks an experienced Senior Heavy Equipment Operator. This role will lead residential civil construction efforts managing a local Anchorage project handling all property clearing and grubbing, development, road building, and site preparation. Previous heavy equipment operation and leadership experience is required.
Typical work hours are 7:00am- -5:30pm, Monday through Friday (50 hours/week).
Salary is determined based upon experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
-Oversee residential civil construction activities, including excavation, grading, road building, land development, site preparation, etc.
-Lead project team safely, on time, and within budget.
-Interpret drawings and specifications to plan and coordinate construction activities.
-Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient workflow and resource allocation
-Daily routine equipment maintenance
Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED
· Solid written and verbal communication skills.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential or commercial civil construction, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
· Strong technical knowledge of heavy equipment operation, construction methods, and civil engineering principles.
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
· OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification preferred.
· Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
· Stable job history.
Class A CDL a plus
Physical Requirements
-Must be able to physically operate heavy equipment for long periods of time.
-Must be able to cut down trees, bushes, etc and prepare them for removal.
-Must be able to stoop, climb, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand to operate and repair heavy equipment.
-Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures.
-Must be able to walk/maneuver on uneven surfaces.
-Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at a time.
-Steady hands and feet are needed to guide and control heavy machinery precisely.
-Appropriate physical condition and endurance required.
