This position would oversee and back up the Fairbanks Community Food Bank Drivers who do the daily pickup and delivery of local surplus food in the Tanana Valley. This position maintains the daily schedule, oversees any special pickups or deliveries, and keeps our donor relations with the stores and their managers healthy and positive. Manual labor, accurate record keeping, operations of large equipment, safety minded attitude, people management skills, and clean driving record are all required of this position. MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A DRUG TEST. MARIJUANA WOULD CAUSE A FAIL.
Essential functions of the job:
Current Alaska Driver’s license
Ability to lift & carry 70 pounds, working inside the building or outside in all weather conditions, manually loading and unloading trucks, and twisting, and bending
Ability to work with all store managers and their assistants
Training & overseeing all driving staff/volunteers
Keeping the written routes up to date & accurate
Facilitating communication between the Warehouse, Front Office, and Drivers
Daily safety checks of all the vehicles
Managing the dispatching of all drivers and vehicles
Ability to multi-task in a genuinely pleasant manner with an attitude of service
Ability to follow directions in the distribution of food boxes to agencies and churches
Desire to keep all areas clean and clutter free.
Confidentiality in dealing with customers records is required (food donors and customers who receive food boxes).
Interest in the issue of hunger and a desire to help those in this community who find themselves with this problem.
Good citizenship, behavior and role modeling are a part of any job at the food bank.
