JOB SUMMARY:

The Core Driller B “ Temporary will perform core drilling services for a seasonal minerals exploration project. Core drilling is a mechanism designed to rotate and to cause an annular-shaped rock-cutting bit to penetrate rock formations, produce cylindrical cores of the formations penetrated, and lift such cores to the surface, where they may be collected and examined. Prior experience in Alaskas rural construction industry is preferred but not required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Mobilize in setting up drill sites.

Operate a core drilling rig 12-14 hours per day, working shifts where you will remain at the project site in remote locations and adverse weather conditions for periods of time.

Prepare daily reports of all drilling activities.

Perform and document daily pre-shift inspections.

Perform and document maintenance and repairs on company equipment and vehicles.

Perform trade for long hours, day after day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand.

Follow directives from Project Management team, with the sense of duty to take initiative and always remain productive at work while on the jobsite.

Perform physical labor that requires considerable use of ones arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials at construction sites.

Work as a team-player with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner.

Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

One-year previous experience as a continuous core driller.

MSHA Certification dated within the past 5 years preferred, or the ability to obtain one at a later date.

Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively.

Ability to crawl, squat, carry materials for extensive periods of time.

Ability to pass a physical and functional agility test, and pulmonary function test.

Ability to pass a drug and background screening.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. All the work of this position will be spent in the field. Field work requires travel to remote locations via small planes, boats, and vehicles. Field work may require extended time living remotely at job sites. Accommodations may be rustic. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes, and occasional overtime for immediate field support may be necessary. May work weekends and holidays, as required by the project needs.
