JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Mechanic is responsible to diagnose, repair, inspect, and maintain all types of construction equipment with minimal assistance. The Lead Mechanic follows directions from the Service Manager and Operations Manager. The Lead Mechanic will also oversee the work of other shop mechanics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintain an efficient work flow in the shop with direction from the Service Manager.

Provide immediate oversight to other employees in the shop regarding priority of tasks, completing work orders, submitting work orders on time, accuracy of work orders, and submitting parts requisitions.

Repair, diagnose and maintain all types of construction machinery.

Perform welds/cuts and fabrication as needed.

Diagnose and repair electrical generator.

Operate heavy power equipment.

Perform regular inspections to ensure machines comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

Work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Maintain a clean work area.

Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:

This position will oversee the shop mechanics.

Knowledge in all aspects of construction equipment repair and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in equipment mechanic or related field preferred.

Two years experience as a construction equipment mechanic required; five years previous experience preferred.

One to two years previous experience supervising mechanics preferred.

Relevant diagnostic software experience required.

Current Class A CDL license required, and must be able to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Equipments Driving Policy.

Current NSTC certification required.

Two years previous experience working in Prudhoe Bay/North Slope preferred.

Ability to pass a drug, driving and background screening.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud due to the running of various machines. Much of the work will be conducted outdoors. The functions of the job are typically performed in harsh weather conditions. This is a fast-passed working environment with constantly changing work priorities. The position requires a rotating schedule, three weeks on the North Slope and three weeks off.
