We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Part-Time Dental Hygienist to join Dr. William J. Marley and the rest of our Homer Dental Clinic team one to two days a week. Dr. Marley is a third generation dentist. His office in Homer was established in 1967 by his father and was Homer's first full-time dental office. It has been in continuous service ever since. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in providing quality oral healthcare to our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to perform dental cleanings, provide patient education, and assist the dentist with various procedures.
Duties:
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, and polishing
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including oral health screenings and medical history reviews
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide personalized oral care instructions
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed
- Perform dental charting and maintain accurate patient records
- Follow strict infection control protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in dental hygiene techniques and technology
Requirements:
- Valid state dental hygiene license
- Associate's degree or higher in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
- Proficiency in using Dentrix dental software for patient management and recordkeeping is a plus
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and coding principles
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients on oral health practices
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other dental professionals
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with digital radiography systems
- Knowledge of aseptic technique for instrument sterilization
- Understanding of records management in a dental setting
