Flight Coordinator/Ramp Agent

Smokey Bay Air is a commuter airline running scheduled flights between Homer and the villages on the southern Kachemak Bay. We also have a bear-viewing business during the summer months.

This position offers a great 4-day on/3-day off schedule (to help with enjoying all the wonderful recreational opportunities in the Homer/Kachemak Bay area). We are looking for a Flight Coordinator/Ramp Agent. You will be cross-trained for both positions.

Ramp Agent /Flight Coordinator

· Loading/unloading our fleet of Cessna 206's and 207's.

· Operate a forklift in a safe, efficient, and skillful manner.

· Operate a panel truck, snowplow truck, and other company vehicles.

· Have adequate knowledge of computer operations and communications processes.

· Lift 75 pounds and assume a variety of positions to accomplish the loading process.

· Perform duties outdoors for sustained periods in inclement weather.

· Use a hand truck, ladders, and other equipment normally found in aircraft hangars.

· Associate with our passengers courteously and professionally.

· Keep hangar and other workspaces in a clean and organized manner.

· Consistently report to work on time with a positive and friendly attitude.

· Receive, weigh, and process freight and the U.S. Mail. (cannot have any U.S. Mail handling violations)

· Coordinate village travel in person and over the phone. Assist personal, government, and professional travel.

· Schedule/Coordinate delivery of groceries, store freight, mail, and personal freight.

· Make tourist bookings for seasonal bear viewing tours, year-round flight-see tours, and state-wide charters.

· Help manage day-to-day operations in the office organizing/staging freight for pilots, helping customers unpack freight, weighing items to be put onto the plane, keeping the office clean and organized, manage the parking lot.

· Billing, making tickets, and maintaining basic organization of QuickBooks accounts.

Qualifications:

· No aviation experience necessary.

· Proficient Computer Skills, and experience navigating QuickBooks, Windows, Excel, and Word is preferred. Applicant MUST be comfortable using a computer.

· Experience in customer service positions (minimum one year).

· Must be able to be on your feet for much of the day.

· Someone who is organized, and accurate, works well under stress, can delegate tasks, is motivated, and works independently.

· Courteous and professional at all times - excellent customer service skills required.

· A large part of this position is phone communication with customers and other agencies. Applicant must be comfortable initiating and taking phone calls.

· The work environment in this position is often fast-paced (but with Safety as our foundation) and requires an above-average ability to multitask.

· This is not your typical desk job! Although there will be times that you are sitting at a desk, you will be expected to help load/relocate planes, organize, and move passenger luggage, assist passengers with weighing bags, and keep the office clean.

Must be at least 18 and have a valid Alaska driver's license to drive company vehicles as needed.
