Aspey, Watkins, and Diesel Law Firm is looking for a full time legal assistant. No prior legal assistant experience is needed; however a bachelor's degree is required.
To enhance attorney effectiveness by providing administrative assistance and case organization including speaking with clients and other parties, assisting in the organization and preparation of legal documents and evidence, organizing cases, assisting with trial proceedings, and supporting the attorney in other ways as needed.
Keep cases organized by establishing and organizing files, monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines, documenting actions, inputting information into file database and case management software, and confirming case status with attorney.
Assist attorney in entering and tracking time, email communications, and provide support for the billing procedure.
Help develop cases by maintaining contact with parties involved, scheduling depositions, preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas, drafting complaints, preparing and filing discovery requests, preparing responses to opposing counsel, and generating status reports.
Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact, and communicating case progress.
Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney, clients, and providers.
Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences, preparing pleadings, monitoring and obtaining discovery responses, and organizing materials for team case review.
Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence, preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses, ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed, and taking courtroom notes.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
