The Intern will work with the team to provide ongoing assistance to refugee clients as part of holistic case management. The intern will assist the caseworker in providing services to the client. Additionally, the intern will also research potential community resources and provide referrals to new and existing partners within the community. Finally, the intern will also be tasked with helping the CM caseworker enroll clients & track their progress. Qualifications RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Caseworker, the Intern will assist with the following: Assist with home set ups, including delivery and assembly of household goods as needed Assist with airport pick-ups for new arriving clients Enroll clients in ARRPODS state database Assist Caseworkers with online referrals to other programs and provides Maintain confidential health information & materials relevant to refugee populations with severe medical, mental, & social needs; Other relevant program support duties, as assigned LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Learn about the services that refugees are eligible for upon arrival in the U.S., including public benefits in Phoenix and local resources in the Metro area Learn about strategies for effective, holistic case management Develop resourcefulness and problem-solving skills to work independently in different situational contexts Learn to communicate effectively with clients across cultures REQUIREMENTS: Must have a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card Cultural competency & consideration Excellent written & verbal skills Proficient with Excel & other Microsoft Office applications Self-starter, ability to complete projects with minimal supervision Access to reliable, insured vehicle Interest in social work, or international studies preferred, but not required Computer literacy, database experience preferred Ability to take initiative and work independently Empathy and open mindedness across-cultural environment Strong organizational skills Must be comfortable working with the LGBTQ and Asylum Seeker community Must complete a HireRight Background Check
