The Coronary Care Registered Nurse is a professional nursewho coordinates the delivery of nursing care for critically ill,post-operative, ventilator, post cardiac arrest, post heart cath, hemodynamicstabilization and other critically ill patients in the units. The Registered Nurse responds to codes andemergent situations as a team member within the hospital. The Registered Nurse participates in patientand family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively withancillary and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards ofprofessional nursing practice in the intensive care/coronary care setting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Handles multiple priorities, utilizing independentdiscretion/decision-making skills
Performs admission assessment within the shift or inaccordance with specific unit standards
Plan of care includes nursing diagnosis statement for eachidentified problem
Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, andpatient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs toassure overall quality of care delivered
Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursingcare provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to assure quality care
Practices within legal boundaries of Nurse Practice Act andaccording to Hospital policy and procedures
Properly demonstrates the ability to care for a patient withhemodynamic monitoring including insertion, monitoring, interpretation, andcare of the catheter
Properly cares for the patient with continuous cardiacmonitoring, ventilators, thrombolytic protocols, ICP monitoring, and pacemakerinsertions
Monitors and interprets heart rhythms
Performs all responsibilities/duties required by theCritical Care Division as defined in the scope of service to ensure that theunique nature of the client is addressed Performs other duties asassigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
RN License in state which the nurse will be practicing
Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledgeand skills
2 years of cardiac care experience preferred
ACLS may be required per state/client contract
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
