Providing professional learning opportunities for Arizona's K-12 teachers.About the Position The Financial Oversight Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing financial operations and ensuring alignment with strategic fiscal objectives. This position is responsible for managing departmental budgets, supervising financial processes, and implementing sound financial practices that support compliance, efficiency, and long-term planning across multiple programs. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, operational expertise, and the ability to lead and support a team in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.Responsibilities Include Budget Management and Resource Allocation - 35% Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental and cross-departmental budgets. Manage resource allocations and reallocations to align with institutional priorities. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external funding guidelines. Collaborate with program directors, Executive Director, and Assistant Director of Induction and develop budget strategies that support both short-term objectives and long-term planning. Provide technical guidance and training to department staff on budget procedures, forecasting techniques, and best financial practices. Monitor spending trends and provide early identification of potential overruns or under spending; initiate corrective actions when necessary. Develop and maintain tools to improve transparency, track resource utilization, and support data-informed decision-making across departments. Financial Analysis and Strategic Planning - 25% Analyze financial performance and compare actual results against forecasts and budgets. Create financial models and scenario analysis to support institutional planning and cost-saving initiatives. Collaborate with university leadership to support strategic financial decision-making. Support long-term strategic initiatives by collaborating with leadership to develop and refine long-term institutional strategies, leveraging financial analysis to support the planning of large-scale initiatives program expansions, and sustainability goals. Create and utilize scenario analysis tools to project the financial impact of various strategic decisions and external factors (e.g., economic conditions, policy changes). Develop recommendations based on insights gained from these analyses. Provide financial insight and strategic recommendations to key decision-makers, ensuring that financial considerations are integrated into broader organizational objectives. Advise on the financial implications of new programs, projects, or changes in policy. Operational Oversight and Policy Implementation - 25% Lead daily fiscal operations, including timely financial reporting and account reconciliations. Develop and implement internal financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance. Identify and resolve operational issues related to budget continuity and financial data integrity. Actively identify potential operational challenges, particularly those impacting financial data integrity, budget continuity, and reporting accuracy. Implement corrective actions or improvements to resolve issues promptly and ensure the ongoing smooth operation of fiscal activities. Advocate system improvements and provide training to ensure staff use financial tools efficiently. Identify financial risks and implement proactive measures to mitigate them. Work with leadership to develop and implement risk management strategies related to budget management, financial reporting, and overall fiscal health. Serve as a financial subject matter expert, providing guidance and leadership on operational issues, policy adherence, and best practices to staff and department heads. Encourage continuous improvement and the adoption of innovative solutions to enhance financial operations. Reporting and Stakeholder Communication - 10% Prepare and present complex financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annually) to senior leadership, Arizona K12 Center Board of Directors, and other stakeholders. Provide actionable insights and guidance to inform university-wide financial planning. Ensure clear and effective communication of financial outcomes and strategies. Represent the finance function in strategic meetings and working groups. Advocate for data-driven decisions by providing meaningful financial context, scenario analysis, and recommendations that align with institutional goals. Facilitate understanding of financial outcomes and strategies at all organizational levels by communicating in a way that bridges technical accuracy with practical relevance. Ensure compliance with reporting standards, deadlines. Champion a culture of financial transparency by holding teams accountable for delivering on financial commitments and using funds responsibly. Other - 5% Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 2 years of accounting/finance experience. 1 years of management experience. A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Finance experience in higher education. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge Expert knowledge of financial operations tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concept; such as payroll management systems and budget analysis projects, as well as such as expense tracking, and trend analysis. Knowledge of financial reporting in higher education and university budgeting processes. Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial reporting regulations. Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Skill in detailed and complex numerical computations and reports. Skill in financial modeling and analysis. Abilities Communicates effectively. Listens actively. Analyzes complex situations and anticipates issues. Compensation Salary range begins at $75,000.00. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.Pre-Employment Check Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment.
