The role (mentor/teacher focus)
Be the steady teacher on the floor. You will coach our drafting team, keep work accurate and organized, and make sure returns are handoff-ready for our e-filing CPA. You will create or refine simple checklists (docs, naming, notes, order, e-sign readiness), answer real-time questions, and occasionally hop on client calls to explain status or next steps. No signing or e-filing; your focus is people and process.
What you’ll do
Mentor preparers at the workstation level: coach, demonstrate, reinforce
Keep returns moving to the e-filing CPA with clean notes and order
Build and uphold ready-to-handoff checklists
Occasional client calls (clear, calm explanations)
Protect client data and document clearly
Schedule
Flexible scheduling (discussed in interview).
Hybrid option (discussed in interview).
Compensation & Perks
Up to $1,250/week, paid weekly (≈ $65,000/yr full-time), 1099 or W-2 (your choice) (final compensation discussed in interview)
Part-time is prorated based on scheduled days

Job Requirements:
Must-haves:
Active EA or CPA in good standing.
1+ year of recent U.S. tax prep experience.
Strong with 1040 (Schedules A/B/C/D/E) and business returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065,), including K-1s, basis/QBI, and depreciation.
Proven experience leading or mentoring preparers / running a tax-prep process.
Able to create and enforce simple checklists (docs, naming, notes, order, e-sign readiness).
Comfortable with occasional client calls (status, next steps, plain-English explanations).
Integrity-driven, team-first, clear and calm communicator under deadlines.
Basic tax resolution understanding (installment agreements, OIC/PPIA basics, penalty abatements, notices) and knowing when to escalate.
Commitment to protect client data and follow firm security/PII practices.
Nice-to-haves:
Familiarity with MyTaxPrepOffice (MTPO) and IRS Logics.
Multi-state return experience.
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
