Camp Counselor

The Camp Counselor will assist with animal care, data entry, scheduling and confirming appointments / reservations, greeting all pet parents and dogs, maintaining communication between front and back of house, selling services, administrative task of filing / client information / answering pet parent questions via phone and in person, cleaning, preparing dog meals and providing excellent customer service.

Primary Responsibilities

Greeting all pet parents and dogs.

Checking in and out dogs.

Front desk administrative duties of data entry, computer maintenance, phone calls, filing and updating client information.

Scheduling and confirming appointments and reservations.

Promote and Sell all Camp services

Cleaning throughout front and back areas.

Maintaining a safe work environment.

Provide excellent customer service.

Be active and attentive to dogs and pet parents at all times.

Assisting with Back of House duties when needed – cleaning, dog supervision etc.

working in yards with dogs when needed, as well as giving baths to dogs when needed.

Ensure all feedings and medications for campers are administered properly. Must be extremely detailed oriented.

Must be able to stand for long periods, bend, stoop and lift up to 40 pounds.

Evaluate dog behavior, reactions, and interactions with other dogs to complete the initial dog screening evaluations, also called “Interviews.”

Monitor play yards for dogs of all sizes.

Maintain continuous focus and attention on dog interactions to prevent fights and injuries.

Must be able to maintain a calm demeanor in a highly stressful environment.

Observe and learn animal behavior and signs of aggression to appropriately assign dogs to the proper play yards, which will require listening and distinguishing between dog vocalizations, distress barks, aggression, etc.

Perform dog health checks throughout the day.

Perform dog washes, nail trims, and other basic dog grooming tasks. Training will be provided.

Perform janitorial duties: restocking supplies, taking out the trash and basic kennel maintenance.

Understand that heavy duty cleaning is a large portion of the job. Clean play yards, cabins and all common spaces: mopping, sweeping, and scrubbing.

Essential Skills

Extremely energetic, outgoing, upbeat with a positive personality.

Must be able to work at a fast pace, in a team environment, and have exceptional customer service, attention to detail and organizational skills!

MUST LOVE DOGS - the noise, the hair, the messes, the love, and the smiles

Requirements

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

At least 16 years or older.

Be able to lift dog food and supplies.

Constantly walk and/or stand entire shift.

Availability

Full time & Part time, hourly position. Must be able to work flexible schedule - Camps are open 7 days/week, weekends and holidays are required but time off is permitted with advance notice. Pay starting at $14.35 for training. ($14.35-$16.00)
