Summary Our Deer Valley Office has an immediate opening for a Metal Fabricator 1-12. The Metal Fabricator will read and understand drawings, perform heavy fabrication, layout job material, operate equipment and tools used in structural/sheet metal fabrication. Build substation control buildings, support the Transportation department with repairs/modifications to company vehicles and trailers. Assures compliance with all APM processes and procedures. In addition, will perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:-High school diploma or GED-In-depth knowledge of structural steel fabrication process (Stick and Mig welding)-Basic knowledge of using handheld Plasma cutting equipment -Complete understanding of reading Steel Fabrication Blueprints-Experience and knowledge of cutting and welding with Oxy-Acetylene -Ability to pass Carbon Steel (Stick and Mig) test-Ability to pass all other written and hands-on tests-Possess a valid Arizona Drivers License Additional Requirements:-Must live within reasonable distance of headquarters (one (1) hour).-Must work reasonable and necessary overtime-This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 350 lbs or less-The established headquarters for this position is subject to relocation to the Hub West Service Center, a facility that will be located 38 miles west of downtown Phoenix, on a date to be determined by the Company Preferred Qualifications:-Experience with sheet metal work-Experience in a Utility Industry (substation/ power line applications)-Structural repair of mobile equipment-Silver solder, high pressure hydraulic tubing experience-Ability to work in a team environment Employee Training and Testing Requirement:Employee shall take the Metal Fabricator test within six (6) months of Fab 1-12 hire date.
If successful, employee will be promoted to Metal Fabricator.
If unsuccessful on first test attempt, the employee will be given up to six (6) additional months to retake professional training ( two (2) sessions max), as well as engage in additional mentoring and practice/training time.
Employee must retest within six (6) months of initial unsuccessful attempt.
If successful on second attempt, employee will be promoted to Metal Fabricator.
If unsuccessful on second test attempt, the employee will be provided a ninety (90) day period in which to seek another position within the Company.
At the end of the ninety (90) day period, if the employee has not obtained a new position, their employment with the Company will be terminated and such termination will not be subject to the grievance and arbitration process provided for in the collective bargaining agreement.

Eligibility: Must live or relocate within reasonable distance to the headquarters. Reasonable distance is defined as one (1) hour for Metro and State Region locations. Reasonable distance for Troublemen, Local Representatives, and Substation Technicians is defined as thirty (30) minutes for Metro locations and forty-five (45) minutes for State Region locations.+ + For jobs in departments (System, Reliability, Hotstick) that require the majority of the work be performed out-of-town and as such, employees/crews are not required to report to the established headquarters unless directed by Leadership; the reasonable distance requirement will be waived.. This will not apply to Troublemen, Local Representatives or Substation Technicians.
