Now enrolling - adults ages 18-65 with major depression for a paid pharmaceutical clinical trial to study the effects of a new medication for depression. Specifically, we are looking for people who are already taking antidepressant medication, but it's not working very well and they are still depressed. Participants in this research study will receive new medication (or placebo), which will be added to your current antidepressant medication.
You will have 7 in-person study visits within 8-10 weeks. You will be compensated $150 for each visit for a total of $1,050. The pre-screen visit will not be compensated. The study visits will include depression assessments, labs (including a required blood draw at most visits), and an EKG for no charge.
After the initial 8-10 week study, study participants may choose to continue (or start) the new antidepressant, supplied at no charge by the manufacturer, as part of a one-year extended study. During that year, there will occasional required study visits and you will be compensated monetarily for those visits.
After that one-year open-label extension study, you may choose to receive the study drug for an extended period of time at no charge (until the medication is approved by the FDA).
The study requires urine drug screens initially and during the study. People who test positive for marijuana/cannabis (or any street drug) at any point will be excluded, even if they have a prescription for medical marijuana. If you fail the pre-screen drug test for marijuana, we will consider having you repeat it in a week or so, if you are willing to discontinue cannabis. If you fail the pre-screen drug test due to other recreational drugs, you will not be allowed to participate in the study.
