Job Description  AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Principal Geotechnical/Civil Engineer to support mine tailings and heavy mine tailings infrastructure as part of the Mining group in Denver, Colorado, Phoenix, Arizona, or Salt Lake City, Utah.  Job Summary/Responsibilities Provides project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, and construction of Tailings Dams and Mining projects. Plans, directs, and supervises all operations included in a mid- to large, complex project or several moderately sized projects with greater risk and complexity, and moderate financial impact. Serve as the Engineer-of-Record for an inactive tailings storage facility.  Preparing and presenting technical presentations to project team, clients, regulators, and technical review boards. Supervise preparation of technical reports, dam safety inspections, and potential failure mode analyses. Participating in potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for tailings facilities, including identifying and developing potential failure modes, and serving as subject matter expert in risk analysis workshops. Develop project proposals and work with mining business leader to support and grow Mining practice Provide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff in completing project tasks Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work May be responsible for Project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s) Provide advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations Provide direction to and mentoring to senior and mid-level staff
