As a Technology Engineer within PNC's Enterprise Technology organization. This position is primarily based in a location within PNC’s footprint. Preferred locations are listed in this requisition. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities can be performed remotely. Additional locations may be considered.Candidate should possess skills that are aligned to the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles with a focus on the discipline specific to this position. SRE is a software engineering approach to PNC’s SRC Operations. SRE professionals use software as a tool to manage systems, solve problems, and automate tasks. Engineers’ focus specializes in improving all aspects of reliability, acting as a conduit between infrastructure and application teams on support issues and improving tools, automation, processes, and software.Responsibilities | SRE: Monitor systems and infrastructure to maintain operational and performance levels Rotational on-call responsibilities Work closely with other SRC professionals/engineers when issues arise, collaborate on troubleshooting, and provide consultation/resolution with events/incidents Anticipate potential problems before they become impacting and collaborate to determine solutions Gather and analyze metrics from tools and system/application logs to assist in performance tuning, fault finding, and resolution Create sustainable systems and services through automation, processes enhancement, tools, and noise reduction Build automation to manage the SRC operations and eliminate/minimize manual functions and toil Collaborate with Application/Infrastructure support engineers and operations teams Engage in post-incident reviews for improvements and determining the cause to prevent recurrence Document work to turn findings into repeatable actions via knowledge articles Mentoring and coaching junior engineersResponsibilities | Discipline:Virtualization Infrastructure Management: Administer and maintain the VMware vSphere environment, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and related components. Perform routine tasks such as provisioning, configuring, and monitoring virtual machines (VMs) and virtual networks. Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability, and proactively address any issues or bottlenecks.Storage Management: Manage and maintain the Pure Storage array, ensuring optimal storage performance and capacity utilization. Create and manage storage volumes, snapshots, and replication configurations. Collaborate with the storage team to plan and implement storage solutions that align with business needs.Server Infrastructure Management: Administer and maintain the Cisco UCS infrastructure, including servers, fabric interconnects, and associated components. Provision and configure physical and virtual servers, ensuring hardware compatibility and performance optimization. Monitor server health and performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with other teams for problem resolution.Technical Support: Provide timely and effective technical support to internal stakeholders, addressing virtualization-related issues and inquiries. Collaborate with the IT support team to troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents and service requests. Assist in creating and maintaining documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles.System Upgrades and Patch Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute upgrades and patches for the virtualization infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and adhering to security best practices. Stay up to date with the latest releases and patches for VMware, Cisco UCS, and Pure Storage, evaluating their applicability and impact.Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, storage, and security teams, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of virtualization infrastructure. Participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to virtualization, recommending improvements, and implementing best practices.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven experience as a Virtualization Operator, Administrator, or similar role, supporting VMware, Cisco UCS, and Pure Storage technologies Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, including ESXi, vCenter Server, and related components. Familiarity with Cisco UCS architecture, server provisioning, and fabric interconnects Experience managing Pure Storage arrays, including storage provisioning, performance optimization, and replication Solid understanding of networking, storage, and server concepts in virtualized environments. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team, taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion Relevant certifications, such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Pure Storage Certified Architect (PCA), are a plus ITIL fundamentalsJob Description
