Hillside Cafe is an award-winning, independent restaurant in Ahwatukee that has been locally owned and operated since 2009. We serve breakfast all day along with lunch, dinner, beer and wine. A neighborhood staple!
We have a very loyal following, amazing food, and friendly service. We are currently hiring for a full-time or part-time Line Cook/ Dishwasher. This position will report to our General Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager. This position may be a hybrid of both titles OR you can apply for a specific one (Line Cook or Dishwasher). Must have night and weekday availability!
Line Cook:
General Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items consistently according to recipes and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of kitchen stations.
- Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies before each shift.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate with fellow cooks and kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
- Perform opening and closing duties as assigned by kitchen management.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
- Previous experience as a line cook or in a professional kitchen preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and safety practices.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation.
- Valid Arizona Food Handler’s Card, or willingness to obtain one prior to starting employment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Reliability and punctuality in attendance and shift commitments.
Dishwasher:
General Responsibilities
- Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, and kitchenware.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish pit and kitchen areas.
- Assist with garbage and recycling removal in accordance with safety standards.
- Support kitchen staff by providing clean and sanitized tools quickly and efficiently.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks such as scrubbing floors, walls, and equipment.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist with basic food prep and kitchen tasks when needed.
- Complete opening and closing cleaning responsibilities as directed.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
- Previous experience as a dishwasher or in a kitchen environment preferred, but not required.
- Strong work ethic and ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with consistent attendance.
- Physically able to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to assist with other kitchen duties when needed.
- Valid Arizona Food Handler’s Card, or willingness to obtain one prior to starting employment.
