Northern Avenue Eye Care is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) individual to join our team as Front Office Support Staff. Whether you are a licensed Dispensing Optician (DO) or non-licensed, we value your experience and skills in customer service, insurance billing, and the optical field. This role is crucial to our private practice, ensuring smooth operations and excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Provide friendly and professional service to patients, both in person and over the phone.
Assist patients with scheduling appointments and answering questions about their eye care needs.
Educate patients on eyewear options, including frame styles, lenses, and contact lenses.
Insurance Billing & Verification:
Verify patient insurance benefits and accurately process billing.
Assist patients with understanding their insurance coverage and out-of-pocket expenses.
Ensure timely submission of claims and follow-up on unpaid or denied claims.
Dispensing & Eyewear Consultation:
Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses that suit their needs and preferences.
Provide contact lens training for new wearers, including proper insertion, removal, and care.
Knowledgeably discuss designer frame options and pricing, helping patients make informed decisions.
Administrative Support:
Support the assistant manager with various administrative tasks, including patient record management.
Help with inventory management, ensuring that the optical dispensary is well-stocked and organized.
Contribute to a smooth workflow by assisting with daily office tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
Experience in a front office role within an optical practice is highly preferred.
Knowledge of insurance billing and verification processes.
Familiarity with dispensing eyeglasses, fitting contact lenses, and contact lens training.
Strong customer service skills and a patient-centered approach.
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Licensed Dispensing Optician (DO) is a plus, but not required.
