Genesis AFC is licensed through the state of Arizona to provide Group Home/Habilitation services for Developmentally Disabled individuals and we are actively searching for a new Program Director to oversee and operate all programmatic aspects of our agency. Our ideal candidate would be someone who has extensive experience in this particular field and in this particular role as a Program Director.

The Program Director is a part of the ‘Upper Management Oversight Team’ and therefore, is primarily responsible for ensuring that all members and staff are Empowered and completely safe from abuse, neglect and/or exploitation at all times- across the agency.

The Program Director also plays a very key role in interfacing with Staff, Family Members, the Division of Developmental Disabilities and wider public, on behalf of the agency, and as a result they must adhere to a high level of personal conduct that encompasses, respectability, integrity, reliability, and propriety. All avenues of communication, whether written or verbal, must be carried out in a manner that is clear, diligent, and ethical.

The Program Director oversees both the Program Coordinator (if applicable), and all Residential Managers in their respective duties in relation to Group Home operations and Habilitation and Room & Board services to GAFC members.

Working Conditions: While working as a P.D., employees may be exposed to the following conditions: 1) unconventional schedule— Resident facilities operate around the clock, P.D.s may work long hours or be on call regularly. 2) possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens; 3) possible exposure to profanity, physically violent, and/or offensive behavior from upset members.

Qualifications & Preferences Regarding Education & Experience: In order to perform the service functions below and to meet the requirements set forth in this job description, applicants for the Program Director (P.D.) position must: 1.) Be of the age 18 years or older 2.) have a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and Bachelor’s Degree within the Human Services Field (Preferred) 3.) have at least two years’ experience in working in the Human Services Field, preferably within the DDD field of service in various capacities 4.) at least two years of supervisory experience 5.) be able to pass all background checks; 6.) be able to provide three verifiable, non-family references including 1 previous employer 7.) certification in CPR & 1st Aid, Article 9, Prevention & Support, Basics of Medication Administration, and a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: Because of the essential duties and responsibilities of the P.D. position, applicants for the position must: 1) be able to lift up to 75 lbs. by themselves., be able to walk, bend, squat, turn in the knees, back, wrists and shoulders, and grasp with both hands; 2) have full vision and hearing or correctable adequate vision and hearing; 3) be able to speak, read, and write English; and 4) for some positions, employees must be able to pass a TB test; 5) have high level computer skills such data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets.

Group homes are located in Mesa, Tempe and North Phoenix.
