We are looking to add a friendly and outgoing person to our team as a Service Clerk and Customer Service associate! This position is available immediately This is a unique opportunity as we are a large store and one of the few that sell fabrics, foam, flooring, window coverings, auto and marine products, etc., and we also reupholster furniture and cushions. Our store is family owned has been in business for over 30 years. We have a huge range in our customer base from someone wanting fabric or foam for a small project to the person re-carpeting their boat, to working with high-end resorts and suppling upholstery products for country wide coffee shops.
This is a Full Time position working 5 days per week (includes 4 weekdays and Saturday - you would be off one weekday and every Sunday). Hours are 9am to 4pm.
This position does require you to be on your feet daily. You would be helping customers find their way throughout our store, lifting and carrying fabric rolls, cutting fabrics for customers to purchase, working with upholsters and other tradesmen that make purchases regularly, taking customer's orders, answering phones, ringing up customer purchases, etc. You do not need prior experience with fabrics or upholstery but it does help if you are able to understand yardage, and are able to utilize a tape measure. We are always open to training the right person.
Minimum requirements for this position include being able to be:
Dependable - meaning that you get to work on time and you don't make it a habit of calling out.
On your feet up to 7 hours a day.
Able to lift up to 25 Pounds without straining.
Comfortable using a small step ladder.
Articulate and comfortable speaking with customers. Must be fluent in English and bi-lingual is a plus.
Honest, responsible, accountable, organized and punctual.
A team player and be willing to help and support other associates as needed.
Comfortable answering phones, answering basic questions, and taking customer orders while being pleasant and friendly.
Able to multitask while also staying focused - there are times that we can get busy with customers in the store and calling on the phone.
Additional Skills:
Have excellent math and money handling skills, prior cashier experience is a plus.
Familiarity with utilizing computers - basic programs including email, word, etc., and its a plus if you are familiar with Excel.
Successful Candidates will be able to maintain a well groomed appearance and dress appropriately while working.
Minimum Education Requirements are High School Diploma or GED.
Background Requirements: Must be a Legally allowed to work in the US, and No Convicted Felonies or any type of prior or pending Theft charges.
