Our client is looking to bring on multiple Java software engineers for their customer loyalty team on a contract to hire basis. This team is responsible for building large-scale applications that process and distribute rebates, discounts, and other rewards to their millions of customers around the world.

If selected, you will be joining a high profile team within the company and mainly responsible for backend API development as they continue their transition from on-prem monolithic architecture to cloud-native microservices. The ideal candidate brings solid core Java experience on high-transaction applications to build REST APIs in a collaborative and test-driven development methodology.

Note this contract will start working 100% remote and likely for the duration of the initial term to the end of the year. After conversion and in 2022 this team is looking to work part time remote and part time in office in the Phoenix valley, so strong preference will be given to local candidates or those willing to relocate by the end of the year.
Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years professionally as a Software Engineer
• Experience with Java as an object-oriented language for REST API development
• Experience in a collaborative, Agile team
• Knowledge/experience with Spring or similar web framework
• Some understanding of the UI and basic JavaScript
• Fundamentals in design patterns and data structures
• Experience with databases - SQL and/or noSQL
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to translate business-level requirements into workable technical solutions

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or similar, technical field
• Previous work building public-facing and large-scale / high-transaction applications
• Knowledge/experience with Apache tools like Kafka, Camel, Spark, etc.
• Asynchronous programming
• Microservices development (SpringBoot)
• Client side frameworks like React or similar
• Knowledge/experience with test automation tools and TDD methods
• Knowledge/experience with automated CI/CD
• AWS, Openshift or other cloud platforms

The Offer

• Competitive Pay: Up to $60/hour, DOE
• Contract Duration: 6 Months minimum initiation term with possibility for conversion to direct-hire $110k base
