A Finisher / Form-setter at H.W. JOHNSON is responsible for all aspects of concrete construction, including setting forms, pouring and finishing concrete, and operating heavy equipment to assist with these tasks. This individual works with a variety of tools and equipment to produce high-quality; durable concrete work that meets specified standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Set forms and reinforcing materials, ensuring they are properly aligned and secured.
Mix and pour concrete into forms or molds, using a concrete mixer or manual methods.
Operate heavy equipment, such as skid steers, backhoes, and skip loaders, to move and distribute concrete as well as dirt and materials on job sites.
Spread and level concrete to the desired thickness, using shovels and/or a bull float.
Finish concrete surfaces, including smoothing and compacting rough areas, and shaping edges and corners.
Operate power trowels and other finishing tools to achieve a smooth, even finish.
Check the finished concrete surface for level and ensure it meets specified standards.
Maintain and repair tools and equipment as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy objects, such as bags of concrete mix and tools, weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery, such as skid steers, backhoes, and loaders, weighing up to several tons.
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including outdoors in various weather conditions.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 4 years of experience in concrete construction, with strong skills in form setting, concrete finishing, and equipment operation. The ability to read and interpret blueprints is also necessary, as well as a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
