Job Description:
The HDD Drill Operator / Locator will be responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling equipment and accurately locating underground utilities. This role requires expertise in HDD operations, precise locating skills, and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate HDD equipment to install underground conduits.
Use advanced locating equipment to identify and mark existing underground utilities accurately.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on HDD equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Read and interpret project plans and specifications to determine appropriate drilling techniques.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices during all phases of drilling and locating.
Collaborate with project managers and team members to ensure project goals are met.
Document and report on drilling and locating activities, including progress and any issues encountered.
Qualifications:
Proven experience operating HDD equipment and performing utility locates.
Strong knowledge of horizontal directional drilling techniques and equipment.
Proficiency in using utility locating tools and technology.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
Understanding of safety standards and regulations related to HDD and utility work.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record preferred (not required)
CDL is a big plus
