Job Summary
The Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems with a strong focus on parking lot, exterior, and site lighting. This role ensures safe, reliable, and code-compliant operation of lighting systems for commercial and industrial properties.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair parking lot lighting systems, including poles, fixtures, ballasts, drivers, and LED retrofits
Troubleshoot electrical issues in exterior lighting circuits, photocells, timers, contactors, and control panels
Perform lamp and fixture replacements for parking lots, walkways, garages, and perimeter lighting
Diagnose and repair underground and overhead wiring feeding parking lot lights
Install and service lighting controls such as photocells, motion sensors, time clocks, and smart lighting systems
Conduct routine inspections to identify outages, damage, or safety hazards
Use lifts, ladders, and bucket trucks to access elevated lighting fixtures
Read and interpret electrical schematics, site plans, and wiring diagrams
Coordinate with property managers, contractors, and inspectors
Maintain accurate service records and material usage
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school preferred
2+ years of experience as an Electrical Technician or Electrician
Hands-on experience with parking lot or exterior lighting systems
Knowledge of LED lighting, drivers, ballasts, and control systems
Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits using test equipment
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Bi-Lingual
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with commercial lighting projects
Bucket truck or lift certification
Experience with lighting retrofits and energy-efficiency upgrades
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Comfortable working at heights
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Work Environment
Outdoor and indoor commercial job sites
Night or early morning work may be required for parking lot lighting repairs
