Summary
The Field Mechanic (Heavy Equipment) is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing Heavy Civil Construction Equipment.
Essential Job Functions
Lift/load/unload and carry up to 50 lbs.
The ability to walk, sit, squat, get in/out of equipment safely, stand and bend for long periods of time.
Complete Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections, maintain electronic driver logs if needed and ensure DOT compliance.
Diagnoses problems and performs mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy civil construction equipment (including, but not limited to, bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front end loaders and company vehicles).
Must have CAT equipment repair knowledge
Inspects and documents condition of equipment for items needing repair or service.
Replaces or repairs defective parts using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
Rebuilds or fabricates parts.
Lubricates moving parts and operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
Performs tasks per preventative maintenance checklist.
Drives Service truck.
Other related duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in repair/maintenance/welding in heavy civil construction equipment required.
Personal Tooling
Clean driving record and the ability to obtain a DOT Medical card.
High School diploma or its equivalent
Experience and knowledge of CAT ET diagnostic tool.
Experience reading technical manuals and understanding schematic diagrams.
