MECHANICAL ELECTRICAL LEAD

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Electrical Lead – Mechatronics Specialist is responsible for leading a team of maintenance and electrical technicians in the upkeep, troubleshooting, and improvement of mechatronic systems within the plant. This role combines expertise in mechanical and electrical systems with advanced knowledge in automation and control technologies, ensuring the efficient operation of complex production machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechatronics, with a focus on PLC programming, robotics, and system integration.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision:

- Lead and supervise a team of mechanical and electrical technicians, providing guidance and support in daily maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

- Work with a maintenance planner to coordinate work schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure that maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and on time.

Mechatronic Systems Management:

- Oversee the maintenance and optimization of mechatronic systems, including automated machinery, robotics, and PLC-controlled equipment.

- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs specific to mechatronic systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

- Diagnose and repair complex issues involving the integration of mechanical, electrical, and PLC control systems.

- Lead root cause analysis efforts for recurring issues, developing, and implementing long-term solutions.

PLC Programming and Automation:

- Program, modify, and optimize PLCs and other control systems to improve production efficiency and reliability.

- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement system upgrades and new automation solutions.

Training and Development:

- Provide technical training to team members, ensuring they are proficient in the operation and maintenance of mechatronic systems.

- Mentor junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development within the team.

Safety and Compliance:

- Ensure all maintenance and electrical activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.

- Lead safety audits and promote a strong safety culture within the team.

Project Management:

- Lead and manage projects related to the installation, upgrade, and integration of new mechatronic equipment.

- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure successful project execution, staying on budget and on schedule.

Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks.

- Prepare and present reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and project progress to management.

Continuous Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the plant’s mechatronic systems.

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

Education:

- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is a plus.

Experience:

-High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with a focus on mechatronics or a similar field is a plus

- Previous leadership experience is preferred.

Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).

- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, and control systems.

- Experience with robotics, sensors, actuators, and system integration.

- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.

Soft Skills:

- Excellent leadership and team management skills.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations.

Certifications:

- Certifications in PLC programming, robotics, or other relevant areas are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

- Comfortable working in a plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.

Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
